How we do school

We have been neck deep in our home school adventures for 10 yrs. now.  Dillon started third grade at our kitchen table.  Hanna wasn't one to be left out so we found some fun books and she started Kindergarten.  Homeschooling has taken us all over the great state of North Carolina.  Our history group has toured every state historical site NC has to offer.   Education is not limited to a building, so we explore and learn no matter were we travel.  We have been blessed to have this time with our kids and friends.

In all our adventures, the thought that one day they will graduate has always been a low rumble in my mind.  This year, that thought became a reality.  Dillon has completed his course work for high school and we have a graduate on our hands.  He has been an excellent student and we are so proud of his accomplishments.  Dillon has enlisted in the Army and will be headed to GA for basic training.  He is an amazing young man, but then, what would you expect me to say!

Things will be different in our school this fall.  One student.  Maybe the house will be cleaner.  Don't count on it!  I know that we will miss Dillon's funny antics and humor.  Guess his adventures will lead to more adventures for us when we get to visit.

Here is our grad and a friend.  Her family introduced us to this wonderful world of homeschooling.

Today is my birthday.  Not a big deal, but it is a landmark birthday so I thought I would do something that I have been threatening to do.  Start a blog.  I know, I am grossly behind on this blog game.  Thinking that with all the changes in our lives, this might be a fun way to keep everyone up-to-date.

For those who don't know all the details of our lives, I'm Rebecca and have been married to Eric for (almost) 20 years.  Dillon is our 18 yr old and he is headed into the Army.  Hanna is our 14 yr old daughter and is super funny.  She has really been encouraging me to start this blog thing.

Guess you'll learn more later.  That is, if we have readers.  ;-)
